Common questions

What are kiln dried logs?

Logs dried in a kiln until their moisture is below 20%. Dry logs light easily, burn hotter and leave less soot and tar in your chimney than wet wood. Ours are dry when they arrive, so there's no need to season them. Here's how they compare with seasoned logs.

Do you deliver kiln dried logs near me?

We deliver to every postcode within 80 miles of Keighley, across Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester. Delivery is free within 40 miles, £30 from 40 to 60 miles and £50 from 60 to 80 miles, with a minimum order of £75. Find your town.

Can I collect from your yard?

Yes. Choose Pick up at checkout and collect your order from our yard at Farrahs Saw Mill, Park Lane, Keighley BD21 4US.

Which logs should I buy?

Mixed hardwood is our best seller and suits most stoves and open fires. Oak burns longest, beech and ash burn hot and steady, and softwood lights fastest. Our guide to the best wood to burn compares them.

How should I store kiln dried logs?

Keep them off the ground, under cover, with air around them. Kiln dried logs take on moisture if they get wet. Read how to store kiln dried logs.

Can I burn logs in a smoke control area?

Only on a Defra-exempt stove. Check your address on our smoke control area map.
