Logs for Halifax homes
Hardwood or softwood? Our mixed hardwood (oak, ash, beech, sycamore and birch) burns longer and suits evening fires in a stove. Our softwood (pine and Douglas fir) catches quickly and costs less per tonne bag, so it works well for getting the fire going before you add hardwood.
Areas we cover around Halifax
We deliver across Halifax, including King Cross, Skircoat Green, Savile Park, Siddal, Pellon, Illingworth, Ovenden, Mixenden, Northowram, Southowram, Warley and Shelf. Elsewhere in Calderdale we cover Sowerby Bridge, Elland, Brighouse and Hebden Bridge, and next door we cover Huddersfield and Bradford.
Smoke control in Halifax
Calderdale Council marks its smoke control areas on its environmental map: scroll the legend and select Smoke control areas. The council is clear that wood is not an authorised fuel inside a smoke control area, unless you use an exempt appliance.
If you do have an exempt stove, the council says to burn only the fuels listed on its exemption and to maintain it as the manufacturer instructs. Outside a smoke control area, our logs suit any wood-burning or multi-fuel stove, or an open fire.
