Logs for Selby homes
The mixed hardwood tonne bag (oak, ash, beech, sycamore and birch) is the usual winter order. Oak costs more but burns slowly, which suits a stove that runs all evening. If you burn every day, the XL tonne bag holds more and means fewer deliveries.

Smoke control in Selby
North Yorkshire Council lists seven smoke control areas in the former Selby district: three in Selby town, and one each in Brayton, Thorpe Willoughby, Sherburn-in-Elmet and South Milford. Each has its own map on the council's page, so check whether your street is inside one.
- Inside a smoke control area, you can burn logs only in a Defra-exempt stove. Otherwise, use an authorised smokeless fuel.
- Outside them, our logs suit any wood-burning or multi-fuel stove, or an open fire.
- In law, smoke from a chimney there can bring a penalty of £175 to £300, and buying unauthorised fuel for a stove that isn't exempt can bring a fine of up to £1,000.
