Logs for Wakefield homes

A tonne bag of mixed hardwood suits most homes with room for a log store. A barrow bag is easier to get to a back yard. If you're in a smoke control area and your stove is not Defra-exempt, use an authorised smokeless fuel instead (see below).

Areas we cover around Wakefield

We deliver across Wakefield, including Outwood, Sandal, Alverthorpe, Crigglestone, Stanley and Agbrigg, and to Horbury, Ossett, Normanton, Pontefract, Castleford, Featherstone and Knottingley. Every WF postcode is in our free delivery area. We also cover Leeds and Huddersfield.

Smoke control in Wakefield

Wakefield Council says its smoke control areas come from a patchwork of orders made between 1958 and 1994. It is consulting until 25 October 2026 on replacing them with one order covering the whole district, which would start no sooner than six months after approval.

  • Inside a smoke control area, it is an offence to let smoke out of a chimney.
  • Logs are allowed only in a Defra-exempt stove. Other appliances need an authorised smokeless fuel.
  • To check your address, contact the council's Environmental Health team, or try the Defra map.
