Smoke control in Sheffield
Sheffield City Council's Care4Air site says most of Sheffield was made a smoke control area between the 1960s and 1980s, apart from rural areas to the north-west.

- Burn only the fuel your appliance is approved for, never waste or treated wood, and have it serviced at least once a year.
- In law, smoke from a chimney there can bring a penalty of £175 to £300, and buying unauthorised fuel for a stove that isn't exempt can bring a fine of up to £1,000.
