Logs for Wharfedale homes
For a stove lit every evening, the tonne bag of mixed hardwood is the usual winter order, and net bags make handy top-ups. Add kindling to the same order. Tell us about narrow lanes or tight access in the Delivery instructions box at checkout, so we can plan where to leave the bag.
Areas we cover in Upper Wharfedale
We deliver to Grassington, Threshfield, Linton, Hebden, Burnsall, Conistone and Kettlewell, and down the dale to Cracoe. Every BD23 postcode is in our free area. We also deliver to Skipton, Settle and Ilkley.
Smoke control in Upper Wharfedale
North Yorkshire Council says smoke control areas in the former Craven district cover the majority of Skipton and parts of South Craven, such as Sutton and Cross Hills. None of the former Craven council's smoke control orders covers Grassington or Upper Wharfedale, so our logs suit any wood-burning or multi-fuel stove, or an open fire.
- Burn only dry wood. Defra advises 20% moisture or less, and every log we sell is kiln dried below that.
- The council can still act if smoke from any fire becomes a nuisance to neighbours, so keep the fire burning hot and clean.
- Most of Skipton is a smoke control area, so if you live there, see our Skipton page.
Most of Upper Wharfedale is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where the National Park Authority asks people not to light campfires or barbecues out in the park. Fires at home are fine. See campfires in the Yorkshire Dales.
